Global Thermostat (GT) was formed in 2006 to develop and commercialize a unique technology for the direct capture of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and other sources. Its unique process cogenerates carbon capture and power.

GT's technology is patent-pending in over 100 countries, and uses low-cost left over process heat as energy for the capture of CO2 from the atmosphere.  It can be installed at new or legacy power plants, cement smelters, refineries and other industrial operations. Since energy typically accounts for over two-thirds the total operating cost of competing carbon capture technologies, Global Thermostat's solution dramatically lowers the cost of reducing carbon emissions.

When process heat is used, the current paradigm (more-energy-equals-more-emissions) reverses. With GT, more energy produced means more carbon reduced.

With Global Thermostat, the possibility of carbon negative emissions is real and achievable. It is a commercially viable solution to carbon capture, an issue challenging the $55 Trillion global energy infrastructure.

Once captured, carbon dioxide can either be stored in geologically appropriate underground formations, incorporated into materials such as cement and plastic for various commercial applications, or sold for carbon tax credits.  Fed to algae, captured carbon then enhances the production of ethanol and other biofuels without competing with food production.

Exclusive Benefits

  • Low-cost process heat to facilitate air capture
  • Turns a power plant, refinery or cement plant carbon negative - removing more carbon than is generated
  • Highly-flexible integration with legacy power plants, fossil fuel, renewable or nuclear energy plants or any heat intensive industrial process
  • Highly flexible location - GT technology can be located anywhere - the only inputs needed are heat and air

The catastrophic risks of climate change require a fundamental transformation in the production and use of energy. The global challenge is to increase energy supplies while simultaneously reducing greenhouse gases in the planet's atmosphere.

Global Thermostat's pioneering technology directly addresses this challenge.
